Inception:

The Bachelor Degree Program of Applied Science and Technology (BAST) was founded in 2003. It is the first undergraduate program among technical universities in Taiwan featuring highly personalized curricula. BAST is also the first program that focuses on cultivating students with proven technical skills. There are currently two major tracks of study in this program: the ‘Mechanical Engineering’ track and the ‘Electrical Engineering and Computer Science’ track. Students choose their tracks based on their expertise, interests, and career plans.

Our curricula are designed based on three principles: 1) industrial applicability, 2) industry-development oriented, and 3) international perspectives. In concordant with these principles, Capstone projects, nationwide contest-based projects, and semester-based off-campus internships are part of our compulsory courses. An industrial senior supervisor joined BAST as our technical faculty member to strengthen our students’ technical skills and the bond between learning and industry. Multiple measures are implemented to enhance students’ international vision (e.g., English requirements, overseas internships, and student exchange programs). BAST strives to incubate technology elites who meet the needs of the industry and have international mobility.
